The Company supports a range of projects delivering education for people in prison, delivering improved wellbeing for participants both during and after their time in prison, improved job prospects and reduced rates of reoffending.

Company support for the Prison Radio Association enables the Association to continue supporting men at HMP Brixton to develop technical skills, improve their mental health, learn about radio production and presenting, and start paving pathways into meaningful employment and education. The impact of this support is clear: 70% of participants report improved confidence and self-esteem, translating to clear outcomes on release, with 50% of participants subsequently successfully in education or employment, well above the national average.
Beating Time’s “Inside Job” programme, funded by the FCCT works to build in-prison recruitment networks and support candidates to produce quality CVs and provide coaching for job searching and interview skills. This successful initiative has secured over 380 jobs for prisoners since its launch.
The FCCT has provided seed funding for ThinkForward UK to develop a pilot project at Feltham Young Offenders Centre to provide coaching, mentoring and employability education to 25 children (15-18), helping them to transition from custody to education, training or employment. The goal is to prevent them from falling into the cycle of reoffending and to provide a blueprint for similar projects in YOIs across the country. ThinkForward UK already has a track record in providing mentoring to young people who face barriers to employment.
Switchback’s work is centred on the idea that trusting, non-judgemental, long-term mentoring relationships provide a stable support structure, helping young men to better manage the transition out of prison and to make positive, lasting change in their lives. The FCCT grant is helping fund the first stage in a Switchback trainee’s journey – one-to-one mentoring as they prepare to leave prison. Working across seven London prisons, the charity’s trained mentors speak to prisoners about their plans post-release and mentor them to help them realise these plans.
The Company is supporting Shannon Trust’s literacy and numeracy education programmes inside prisons, helping prisoners to learn new skills and move into employment.
