CatZero Named Hull & East Yorkshire Charity of the Year – Supported by Fishmongers’ Company Since 2019

We are delighted to share that CatZero, a charity proudly supported by the Fishmongers’ Company’s Charitable Trust since 2019, has been named Charity of the Year at the Hull and East Yorkshire Business Awards.

This recognition is a testament to CatZero’s unwavering commitment to transforming lives across the Humber region. For over 17 years, CatZero has delivered innovative programmes that build confidence, resilience, and self-belief among individuals and families facing significant challenges. Their unique approach combines practical skills development with life-changing experiences—on land and at sea—helping participants overcome barriers and unlock their potential.

Why this matters now

The award comes at a critical time for the charity sector. Funding streams have been reduced or lost, while demand for support continues to rise. NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) numbers remain high, and families across the region face compounded crises, from mental health struggles to financial insecurity. CatZero’s work is not abstract—it is about real people, real communities, and real change.

The people behind the success

CatZero credits this achievement to its dedicated team, passionate volunteers, and loyal partners. Most importantly, it celebrates the participants who commit fully to the programme, embracing challenges and demonstrating incredible courage. Their attitudinal change—developing confidence and resilience—is at the heart of CatZero’s success.

Fishmongers’ Company’s role

Since 2019, the Fishmongers’ Company’s Charitable Trust has supported CatZero’s mission to create opportunities for those in some of the country’s most disadvantaged communities. We have partnered with CatZero and the Humberside seafood processing sector to provide life-changing experiences with CatZero and develop job opportunities for young people struggling to find long-term employment.

Looking ahead

While this award is uplifting, CatZero remains focused on the growing challenges ahead. Their commitment is clear: to ensure the people of the Humber region have chances, not barriers; opportunities, not systems that fail them.

We are proud to stand alongside CatZero in this journey and congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition.
