The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama invites guests from the Fishmongers’ Company to a production of the musical Betty Blue Eyes, performed and produced by final-year students on the BA Acting and Musical Theatre and Theatre Practice courses.

Nominated for best new musical at the 2011 Olivier Awards, Betty Blue Eyes was adapted from the 1984 film A Private Function, written by Alan Bennett. A sharply observed social satire of post-war Britain, Betty Blue Eyes tells the story of an eccentric cast of characters in a Yorkshire community, and Betty, the pig, who is being reared on the black market for the upcoming Royal Wedding.

Spend a morning at City & Guilds of London Art School learning about how they are widening participation in the arts from their centre in Kennington.

The event will celebrate the National Saturday Club, an outreach programme which at CGLAS is bringing traditional art skills to local young people. As part of the grant awarded to the school by the FCCT, we fund the salary of the facilitator who leads these free weekly sessions. There will be an opportunity to meet participants and tutors who are taking part in the club and learn more about the work they are creating for an exhibition this summer.

Guests are invited to join members of the Vocal & Opera Faculty for a reception before the performance and during the interval.

Join the Guildhall for an evening of music exploring some of the great composers and lyricists of the twentieth-century American Songbook (Berlin, Porter, Arlen & Mercer, Bacharach & David), alongside the work of their British counterparts (Noel Gay, Noel Coward, Lionel Bart, Newley & Bricusse).

The evening will also include a post-concert Guest Reception where there will be an opportunity to meet some of the students who will have performed at the concert.

Fishmongers' Scholar, tenor Konstantinos Akritides, will be starring as Tamino in the upcoming Royal Academy Opera performance of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute).
