Engagement Opportunities

This production of Britten's rarely-performed church parable – directed by Victoria Newlyn and conducted by the Academy's Head of Opera Christopher White – is the final opportunity to see the Royal Academy of Music's current cohort of talented singers on the Academy's postgraduate opera course. Many of these students have already secured contracts at international opera houses and summer festivals including Glyndebourne, Garsington, the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera, the Mascarade Opera Studio in Florence and Accademia Rossiniana at the Rossini Opera Festival.
The Burning Fiery Furnace tells the story of Nebuchadnezzar and the three Israelites, Ananias, Misael and Asarias who were thrown into a furnace for their refusal to worship Nebuchadnezzar's image of gold.
Fishmongers' Scholar, tenor Konstantinos Akritides, will be starring as Misael.

For the 2025 edition of London Craft Week, the City & Guilds of London Art School will host a two-day event showcasing some of the historic and contemporary craft skills they champion on their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The free admission event will take place on Friday 16 May and Saturday 17 May 2025 and includes an engaging programme of activities, as well as the exciting opportunity to glimpse inside a real Art School. The two days will include stone carving, conservations and gilding demonstrations, along with exhibitions of work by students and members of the National Saturday Club, a free outreach programme for young local people which Company funding supports. There will also be opportunities to have a go at wood and stone carving or sign up for a printmaking workshop.
