Royal Academy of Music – Britten’s The Burning Fiery Furnace – Now Fully Booked
The Susie Sainsbury Theatre Marylebone Road, LondonThis production of Britten's rarely-performed church parable – directed by Victoria Newlyn and conducted by the Academy's Head of Opera Christopher White – is the final opportunity to see the Royal Academy of Music's current cohort of talented singers on the Academy's postgraduate opera course. Many of these students have already secured contracts at international opera houses and summer festivals including Glyndebourne, Garsington, the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera, the Mascarade Opera Studio in Florence and Accademia Rossiniana at the Rossini Opera Festival.
The Burning Fiery Furnace tells the story of Nebuchadnezzar and the three Israelites, Ananias, Misael and Asarias who were thrown into a furnace for their refusal to worship Nebuchadnezzar's image of gold.
Fishmongers' Scholar, tenor Konstantinos Akritides, will be starring as Misael.
