ROLEX FASTNET 2021 – THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME

Place your bids here…. A unique opportunity has arisen to participate in the iconic Annual Rolex Fastnet Yacht Race. A race of international reputation that will engage the nautical skills of some of the world’s finest yachtsmen crewing some of the world’s finest racing yachts. Wynne Griffiths our longstanding Liveryman has kindly donated his place, awarded to him by charity CatZero, to be auctioned amongst our members. Starting at £2,950, the successful bid will not only secure a special place in this world-famous race, it will also support the invaluable work that CatZero undertakes. The charity, of which we have been a long-term supporter, offers vital assistance to people living in the former fishing communities throughout Humberside. Sailing on the 72ft challenge yacht is part of a multi-faceted programme which provides valuable life-lessons to participants, helping children, young people, adults, and families achieve lasting positive and personal change. This 650nm race is the highlight of the sailing calendar and is one of the most demanding offshore races. Crossing the Celtic Sea to round the Fastnet Rock off the coast of Ireland, the race will finish in Cherbourg, France for the first time in its 95-year history. Sail Training will take place on Friday 6 August 2021. Preparation for Race Saturday 7 August 2021. Race starts Sunday 8th August 2021. Potentially finishing race on Friday 13 August in Cherbourg, France.  There is an option to sail the vessel back to Portsmouth to arrive on Sunday 15 August, as part of the package.

To place a bid email membership@fishmongers.fishmongers.org.uk, listing your bid as well as your full contact details. All bids must have been received by Friday 12 March with the winning bid being announced on Wednesday 17 March.

Entrants are to be aware that they will be required to attend two following training sessions before the race takes place.

Training Session One
11-13 June 2021 (Joining evening of Friday 11 June 2021).
Weekend on board CatZero (Hull Marina), for boat familiarisation and training on River Humber/North Sea.

Training Session Two
28 June-4 July 2021 (Joining on the evening of 28 June 2021) Sailing from Hull to the South Coast, to then take part in the Round the Island Race 2021
